Central Connection: Education

Incarnation Bible Study and Discussion in Central Lutheran's Library

7:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday evenings in December - 12/1, 8, 15 and 22

Who is Jesus of Nazareth, and why is he so important?  These are some questions that we will study and discuss.  As we head into this Advent season of waiting and expectation what better subject than the Incarnation?  We sing about Emmanuel...God with us.  We hear a story of God entering this messy world to join with us in the joy, suffering, and pain.  Christians believe that Jesus was both fully God and fully human.  What are the ramifications of this radical idea?  What does it mean to have a God that immerses God's self in the creation and suffers with us?  Please join us as we discuss Scripture, art, and how our own lives are affected by the incarnation.  You do not have to commit to the whole series in order to participate.  Show up for one, or all four!  The Bible study will be led by Pastor Jim Engel.

In Jesus' name, welcome.

We as Lutherans believe that we are sinners and saints at the same time. All our lives we live by God's gracious forgiveness, because we are sinners now and will be until we die. At the same time, for the sake of Jesus, who gave his life for us, God makes us saints--cleansed and holy people. Martin Luther's last words were We are beggars--that is true. We are beggars--we have nothing to offer God in exchange for life and salvation. But we beggars have been invited to the table of the Savior, to feast on the Bread of Life. All sinners are welcome here at Central. Come, taste the healing power of God's gift of life.
